Project Risk Management Professional (PRMP)

Overview

Projects operate in environments characterised by uncertainty, changing stakeholder expectations, financial pressures, technological disruption, regulatory changes, supply-chain challenges and other threats and opportunities. Effective project professionals must therefore be able to anticipate uncertainty, evaluate its potential effect on project objectives and implement timely, informed responses.

The Project Risk Management Professional (PRMP) course offered by Kampala Project Planning and Management Centre (KPPMC) is a practical, competency-based professional development and certification preparation programme. It is designed not only to prepare eligible participants for the PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)® certification examination, but also to strengthen their ability to identify, analyse, evaluate, respond to, monitor and communicate project risks in real project environments.

The programme is aligned with the current PMI-RMP® Examination Content Outline and internationally recognised project risk management practices. It combines structured instruction with practical application through workshops, case studies, simulations, risk registers, qualitative and quantitative risk analysis exercises, response planning, mock examinations and certification guidance

Main Purpose

The main purpose of the PRMP programme is to develop competent project risk professionals who can systematically manage uncertainty, support informed decision-making and improve project performance, while building the knowledge and examination readiness required to pursue the PMI-RMP® certification.

The programme therefore places competency before certification: certification is treated as evidence of professional capability rather than the sole objective of the course.

Course Objectives

By the end of the programme, participants should be able to:

  1. Integrate project risk management into project planning, implementation, governance and decision-making processes.
  2. Apply structured methods to identify and document project threats and opportunities and develop comprehensive Project Risk Registers.
  3. Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk analyses to prioritise uncertainty and support informed management decisions.
  4. Develop, evaluate and implement effective risk response strategies for both threats and opportunities.
  5. Monitor, reassess, report and communicate project risks throughout the project life cycle and promote a proactive risk management culture.
  6. Apply internationally recognised project risk management practices across predictive, Agile and hybrid project environments.
  7. Demonstrate improved readiness to undertake the PMI-RMP® certification examination through practice, coaching and PMI-aligned examination strategies.
